Ranbir Kapoor's interest in the exotic beauty Nargis Fakhri is more professional than personal. The US-born half-Pakistani half-Czech debutante's Hindi needs a lot of work, to put it mildly, and Kapoor has taken up the cause to perfect her language skills. Along with director Imtiaz Ali, Kapoor has been relentlessly working on Fakhri's diction. In fact, sources say the entire Rockstar team is determined to turn Fakhri desi before the final print of Rockstar is ready for release in September. All members of the crew have been advised to converse in Hindi with Fakhri; no one talks to her in English anymore. Ali and Kapoor had put aside the leading lady's linguistic problem at the start of the shoot. Ali was reportedly dazzled by her screen presence, and decided to sort out the tiny issue of language later. Now, with Rockstar nearly complete, the director and the lead actor have joined forces to make Fakhri's Hindi sound credible. The two have two options -- either her lines can be dubbed by a professional dubbing artist, like Katrina Kaif's lines were in her first few films, or Fakhri improves her Hindi enough to sound convincing as a desi girl in time for the final print. "Nargis' screen presence and her acting abilities are topnotch. Everyone from the unit is raving about her. But the matter of her lines still need to be sorted out, " said a source. Ali and Kapoor have reportedly taken the tougher route and are working on Fakhri's Hindi round the clock. The 5'9" tall Fakhri was featured in the 2009 Kingfisher calendar. She has also done television commercials for Herbal Essence, Pantene, and Ponds in the US.

'Dum Maro Dum is an obscene depiction of Goa women'

Trouble for Rohan Sippy’s upcoming film ‘Dum Maro Dum’ is deepening with the Goa State Women’s Commission (GSWC) has joined the bandwagon demanding ban on the movie for projecting Goan women in ‘obscene’ manner. The commission on Friday filed a complaint with the women’s police station demanding action against the filmmakers even as it will conduct a parallel inquiry. GSWC chairperson Ezilda Sapeco said that the commission is relying on the promos shown on television, which are ‘defamatory and has obscene depiction of Goa and Goa women’. “The commission has taken serious note of the same and there is already a public outcry, which might provoke breach of peace. We therefore request the police to investigate in the matter and take action against all persons responsible in the matter of the preparation, filming, display and the relay of the promos,” Sapeco said. GSWC officials also convened a meeting with Chief Minister Digambar Kamat and Home Minister Ravi Naik, requesting to intervene in the matter. The movie is already embroiled in controversy as the state has got together protesting against the movie which showcases Goa as a hub of sex, drugs, prostitution and easy availability of women. A media professional, Savio Rodrigues filed a petition in the High Court seeking a permanent ban on the movie stating the wrong portrayal might attract sex offenders, drug dealers and criminals to Goa. “The government is aware of the movie and we have already instructed the police to investigate it,” Kamat assured the commission officials. The issue was recently raised by the former Tourism Minister Francisco Pacheco in the state legislative assembly arguing that the movie will further dent the image of the state. Tourism Minister Nilkant Halankar had also voiced concern over the wrong depiction of Goa and assured to deliberate at the higher level.

It looks like all the abstinence from mughlai food, alcohol and other carnal activities is doing Salman Khan a world of good. These days he is in top physical shape, good enough to take on an African-American physical trainer weighing a 150 kgs, for arm-wresting. And defeating him!The incident that happened in Vishakhapatnam earlier this month (March 6) and has had a snowballing effect on the Telugu film industry. Apparently, Salman took on the LA trainer for impromptu arm-wrestling in front of a number of prominent members of the Telugu film industry. Known to have very rigid views on self-respect, the denizens of the film industry there have decided to pack off this pricey trainer back to LA. Sonu Sood who was with Salman that evening verifies the incident. "Yes, Salman challenged the guy who trains Telugu doyen Mahesh Babu's two sons Vishnu and Manoj and many other big actors from the Telugu industry. We were at a party in Vizag. It was on the Park hotel's premises. Both Salman and I were trying to have a good time. Many prominent stars from Telugu cinema were also present at the bash. Everyone was talking about this huge bulky 150 kg trainer from LA who was also there. They were all talking about how powerful and invincible he was, and how all the leading men from the Telugu film industry were queuing up to work-out with him." That's when Salman decided to indulge in serious masti. Says Sonu Sood, "He announced that I'll be taking on the LA trainer for arm-wrestling. I was quite embarrassed. But by then Salman was in full form. He wouldn't take a no. And the bigwigs of the Telugu film industry were staring at us. There was no smooth surface to arm-wrestle. So I took on the trainer on a rough wall. Though at the end of it my elbows were badly bruised it was surprisingly easy to defeat him." Encouraged by Sonu Sood's victory Salman then decided he too would arm-wrestle with the trainer. That's when the big-name gathering from Telugu cinema that evening got keenly interested. They watched with avid interest as Salman arm-wrestled with their star-trainer from the US...and defeated him. For a good 20 minutes thereafter there was utter chaos in Vizag with Salman and Sonu receiving congratulations from the entire congregation. News spread in Hyderabad like wildfire the next morning that Telugu's cinema's favourite trainer, imported all the way from LA, had been defeated by the Dabangg duo. Apparently, the trainer has now been packed off back to the US. Chuckles Sonu, "I wouldn't like to comment on what happened to the trainer. But both Salman and I were surprised by how easy it was to defeat a man as heavy and physically-fit as this trainer. We couldn't stop laughing. We celebrated our victory till the morning."

She came home only after she was done."Back-to-backA few days ago, she shot for Thank You at Madh Island from 6 am to 1 am, went home for a costume trial for Players and to shoot an ad. She then flew off to Delhi for an event.Back in Mumbai, she took time out to dub for and shoot for scenes on Thursday and Friday and to work on her ads.She finally collapsed that evening. Despite that, she went to shoot for Players the next day as she had combination dates with co-stars Abhishek Bachchan and Bobby Deol."Now due to a throat infection, she can barely speak now, " adds the friend. Apparently, Anil Kapoor's daughter hasn't taken a holiday since Sawaariya."Though Sonam had gone to USA last year for a vacation, she had a relapse of typhoid and couldn't really enjoy herself, " informs the friend.

This will be a welcome break for her. She jumped at the chance to visit Orissa. After the event, she is expected to visit Puri beach and the Sun Temple in Konark. She also plans to visit the Udaigiri and Khandgiri caves." Says Kat, "I'm very excited to go to this lovely place for the first time and see the beautiful architectural structures. I'm looking forward to picking up the traditional handicrafts that I've heard so much about, for my friends and family. I love different types of handmade interior accessories. Also I am very attracted to stone carvings and how detailed they look."

Zoa Morani, who is making her debut as an actor in Shah Rukh Khan's movie "Always Kabhi Kabhi", says since she grew up seeing actors performing for her father she couldn't resist to choose acting as a profession. "I was never really inspired by anyone. I always grew up watching dad's shows, watching all the actors performing on the Bollywood shows abroad and stuffs. So I think it was always in my head as I grew up watching it," Zoa Morani, daughter of Cineyug's Karim Morani, told reporters at the Lakme Fashion Week. Zoa is playing a firebrand character in "Always Kabhi Kabhi", which is an adaptation of Roshan Abbas' 1999 play, "Graffiti". Giving a sneak preview of the film, she said: "It's about how small children evolve from childhood to adolescence." She has been an assistant director to Rajkumar Santoshi for "Halla Bol" (2008) and Farah Khan for "Om Shanti Om" (2007) and also trained in acting from Anupam Kher's acting school Actor Prepares. Asked Shah Rukh gave any master tip to her about acting, she said, "He always says that work hard and if you work hard and true to your self, your work, then you will make god happy and he will take care of everything." Morani was the showstopper for designer Pallavi Mohan's label "Not So Serious" at the Lakme Fashion Week.
